Welcome to ATW

Hello friends! It’s the start of a new month, therefore a start on All Things Wellness. I am currently in Paris and I have been living my best life for the past 3 weeks. Eating a croissant every morning and not caring about working out or counting my calories.

Before I embarked on this Europe trip, I had a lot of stomach issues. Mostly from eating Uber Eats three times a day, everyday. For months. Here’s why:

In March 2022, I purchased a home. My first home. Being a homeowner comes with a lot of challenges. For example, a shower leak in the upstairs guest bathroom which caused me to lose my kitchen from May to September.

Thankfully insurance covered everything, but still, a huge pain to say the least. Without a kitchen, I was left to using Uber Eats everyday for all three meals. I tried to stay as healthy as possible but its hard when there are endless yummy options at your disposal. Okay, I didn’t go crazy but its hard to tell what ingredients go into your food if you’re not the one making it.

After three months of living off of Uber Eats, my stomach started hurting like crazy. It got to a point where I thought I needed to go to the ER. That’s when I decided to get a lymphatic drainage massage to see if that could help alleviate some of the symptoms that I was feeling. I met Sabrina who literally changed my life. She sent me to get a colonic, which I know is a controversial thing - some people are for it, and some people are against. It hurt like crazy, not going to lie. And it was the most uncomfortable thing I had ever felt. But it also helped to get rid of a lot of blockages that were causing this severe pain.

I also got a food sensitivity test done to take this more seriously, and here was what I’m not supposed to be eating:

  • Coconut

  • Cow’s milk

  • Apple

  • Asparagus

  • Bell pepper

  • Brewer’s yeast

  • Cashew

  • Chicken

  • Egg yolk

  • Eggplant

  • Garlic

  • Ginger

  • Gluten

  • Green Pea

  • Kale

  • Lima bean

  • Mozzarella

  • Pineapple

  • Rye

  • Soybean

  • Wheat

  • White potato

  • Yogurt

That’s a lot. The stuff in bold was the stuff that I was VERY upset about. Because I genuinely cannot see myself staying away from these ingredients. Basically most of the list upset me. A few weeks before my trip to Paris, I decided to go on a clean “diet” and only stick to foods that I didn’t have a sensitivity to. And honestly, even though I was upset about this, my body was so happy. No more stomach aches, no more bloating, no more spending my evenings curled up in a ball because of the pain that I was in.

However, when I came to Paris, I didn’t want to hold myself back from all the good food. So I became a little less restrictive of what I cannot eat. I started eating gluten here. And the first two days, my stomach had to get used to it, but after that, it was like I didn’t even have a gluten/wheat sensitivity. It’s crazy how Europe ingredients are so much different to American ones in terms of what they contain and how they make us feel. A pain au chocolat in America would have sent me to the ER, meanwhile in Paris its making both my stomach and my heart dance.

I am going to continue exploring and experimenting with what works for my stomach, and until then, I will keep you posted on all my wellness tips and hacks on this blog!

Thank you for being here and I hope you enjoy!
